After the clay is brought down from Mt. Kenya each bead is shaped by hand and subjected to several kiln “firings” before it is finished. After the bead has gone from “green ware” to “bisque”, it is then hand painted . The bead is then fired again, glazed and re-fired in an electric kiln. Unfortunately, electricity is often interrupted during the process, which results
in loss of the entire kiln contents.
